Weevils are a small species of beetle. There are many different types of species, but usually, they are dark brown or black, with long snouts. They eat crops and are commonly found in gardens, orchards and crop fields. Some species cause structural damage to buildings – these types of infestations require immediate treatment, because the damage can be severe.
Most homeowners will be dealing with the pantry variety of weevil. Referred to as a type of “stored pantry pest”, these weevils stow away in packaged food, usually rice. Double-checking food products before you purchase them can reduce the risk of introducing an infestation into the home.
